A series of 7 paintings describes the life of the great Persian poetess Tahire, who devoted her life to the emancipation of women in the world. In following the teachings of Baha’u'llah, founder of the Baha’i Faith, she took off her veil, an act which led to her martyrdom for this cause in 1848. Tahire spiritual awakening came from Baha’u'llah’s forerunner the Bab (“The Gate”)

Each painting has a gate as part of the composition.

Watercolours
All 7 paintings: £590
